Every now and then I’ll come across a person without anti-virus software on their computer. With this economy, the thought of paying a yearly subscription for anti-virus software just isn’t always possible. One solution I have found is AVG Anti-Virus, it’s free for private, non-commercial, single home computer use. When I initially came across it years ago, it wasn’t very good at all, but its’ come a long way since then and is pretty solid now. It’s free, so you can’t ask for much more, the price is right and it’s a million times better than not having any anti-virus software at all.
For anyone that uses Comcast internet, it’s not very well-known, but they offer Norton anti-virus for free.
For CenturyLink (Qwest) internet customers, they also offer Norton anti-virus for free.
So if you come across a computer without anti-virus, check who their ISP is and you might be surprised that they offer a free anti-virus solution. All else fails and if a pay solution is not possible, AVG is a solid plan B.
